ONE!! Evan’s Milk & Cookies Party

Chocolate Chip, Oreos, Peanut Butter, Sugar…what do these things have in common?

If you guessed it’s that you could have found them each at Evan’s first birthday party, you are absolutely correct!  I can not believe my sweet baby is already one, but we were excited to celebrate this important milestone.  I know, I know – first birthday parties are more for the parents than the kid – I have heard this many times.  But regardless, we really wanted to do something fun and since we love any excuse to celebrate – this seemed like the perfect opportunity.

I shared with you previously that the theme was Milk & Cookies.  Alex and I have joked from day one about Evan being a milkaholic.  The word “milk” seemed to be involved in many of his early nicknames – this party theme just made sense for our little guy!  After the theme was decided, and with a little help from Pinterest, we were ready to party!!

The day started with Alex and I singing to Evan while he was still in his crib.  He got up and we brought in one of his birthday gifts – the Busy Town Activity Cube.  He loved it!!  We celebrated with a birthday pancake breakfast.

One of my favorite parts of the party, besides the birthday boy and amazing guests, was the milk and cookie buffet.

The hot chocolate bar was a hit.  We enjoyed pinterest inspired peppermint chocolate marshmallows, caramel pieces, chocolate covered peppermint sticks, and whipped cream in our hot chocolate.  Delicious!!

I absolutely loved our venue.  We chose a local bakery and cafe.  It was just enough room and they were so wonderful to work with!

We were so lucky to have some fabulous friends there to celebrate with us.  We had a cookie decorating station and a ball pit for Evan’s friends to enjoy during the party.  I think they had fun!!  It was so cute to see everyone playing together and having a good time.

And, of course, Evan had a great time!  He wasn’t sure about the cake – he was much happier after we gave him a spoon, but he was still a great sport throughout the party.

Party day was fabulous.  It was a challenging day in many ways, but thanks to an army of family and friends we were able to get everything done and celebrate our sweet Evan.
